How the facts are checked
Every claim in an episode rests on a source that is listed on the episode’s page with the date it was checked. If there is no source, the line is not said.
No source, no line
Every factual line of a script names its source. The production pipeline refuses to make the final version of a video while a single claim is unsourced or the script has not been approved.
Where the sources come from
- DJ gear and software is checked against the makers’ own manuals and support pages – AlphaTheta (rekordbox, CDJs), Native Instruments (Traktor), Serato, inMusic (Engine DJ) – for the version named on the page.
- Hardware and music history is checked against the makers’ own company histories, contemporary reporting and well-referenced encyclopaedia entries.
- Law and money are checked against the legislation, the tax authority, trade bodies and unions, or the contract terms themselves, and re-checked when they change. Example numbers are labelled “Example” on screen.
- Acoustics and music theory are textbook knowledge; any number is calculated with the assumptions shown.
Two gates
A person reads the script, the sources and every number on screen before a video is finished, and watches the finished video before it is published. Each approval is tied to a fingerprint of exactly what was approved, so any later change needs a new approval.
Say what the source says
Features differ between systems and versions. When a manual hedges, so do we; when the behaviour depends on the software, we say which one. Demonstrations in an episode – drifting kicks, a flam – are our own recordings of the effect, not a capture of any product.
Corrections
Found a mistake? Tell us: [email protected]. Corrections are marked on the episode’s page under “Corrected” with the date, and the video is remade when needed.
AI voice and original sound
The narrator’s voice is AI-generated. A person writes and checks the scripts and sources. The animation is drawn for the channel, and every sound and every bar of music is synthesised for it: no samples, no licensed tracks.
